Holidays in the heart of Ludlow

Steeple Mews Holiday Homes came about after developing a very derelict site in Pepper Lane in the centre of Ludlow into 10 high quality townhouses in a secure gated courtyard development.

The added benefit was that the site contained an underground car park which would provide one parking space for each car – an amazing luxury right in the centre of town!

We have completed many housing developments over the last 20 years around South Shropshire, but Steeple Mews has been our first venture into a town centre.  We’ve always specialised in barn conversions which obviously tend to be countryside or village locations.

So many of our friends and family loved the houses in Pepper Lane but were adamant that were absolutely perfect for letting out as self-catering holiday homes.  We investigated it further and it snowballed into the view that we would be mad not to go down this route, so what choice did we have?

We normally develop houses to sell, so this was a complete departure for us but ironically the pandemic gave us time to plan the holiday houses down to the last detail without feeling like we were rushing them into the holiday let market.

Furnishing the houses was put into the hands of Alex, our show home designer at Stanza Style Interiors, who jumped at the chance to style these homes, and nothing was left to chance.

She has created 6 holiday homes that are chic, stylish, and individual.  They are of course modern but at the same time comfortable and each one takes its inspiration from a different historic building or a part of Ludlow.  The houses sleep between 4 and 8 in style and comfort.  There are outside dining spaces with each house, and we also welcome dogs in some of our properties.

We love the idea of bringing people from all over the country into the absolute centre Ludlow to show off the town and sample the culinary and architectural delights that it has to offer.

We truly believe that Ludlow has it all, and that anyone who hasn’t been here before will soon be converted by it, be drawn into it and will want to visit again and again.  The walks, views and history of the town are all awe-inspiring, the people are welcoming, and the festivals are of course fantastic.  We have lived within 10 miles from Ludlow for at least the last 25 years and we love it!  The independent shops, cafes and restaurants are second to none, and this coupled with the unbeatable walks, festivals, and the incredible history of the town — we can’t ever pick our favourites!

We are right behind King Street in Ludlow, literally a short stone’s throw from the High Street shops, restaurants, and cafes.  The church spire can be seen from many of the houses, yet often the peal of the St Laurence’s bells is the only sound you will hear away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre.
