The kids will have a lot of fun watching the tractor run coming up this Friday, 25 November, in Ludlow. Organised by the Orleton Young Farmers Club (Orleton YFC) the ‘Light Up’ tractor run begins at 6:30 pm at Ludlow Livestock Market.
The tractor run is about making money for charity, and entrants pay £10 to bring their decorated tractors out on a route around and through the town of Ludlow. It’s going to be quite a sight for anyone waiting along the route as they catch a range of vintage and modern-day tractors driving by.
Where can you watch it?
The tractors will run a circular route from Ludlow Livestock Market and bring them into the Square. You may even get to see them stop and say hello to kids and Santa.
The idea for the tractor run grew when Tom Crofts, Vice Chair of the Orleton YFC, was asked by the Council to do something exciting for the start of the Winter Festival . However, the event is also an opportunity for the club to raise funds for charity.
You don’t have to be farmer to be a Young Farmer!
There are many Young Farmers Clubs found across Shropshire and Herefordshire – there are 18 Young Farmers’ Clubs in Shropshire alone. They Clubs are dedicated to supporting young people in agriculture and promoting countryside living.
Orleton Young Farmers group is aimed at young people from ages 10 up to 28 years. It’s focus is to educate their members about farming, offer support and of course, have a lot of fun with plenty of social activities. Tom says that post-Covid, the group has grown to 50 members this year and is always happy to have more.
