Following on from a sell-out first weekend in September, music organisers, Shire Folk ,return with their next three-day event this month, bringing talented folk artists to audiences in Shropshire and Herefordshire. Shire Folk, created by Westley and Jen Bone, is a multi-strand project to promote arts, artists, audience engagement & development, technical training, digital promotion of artists and venue sustainability across rural communities.
They have embarked on a series of monthly mini tours, presenting emerging folk artists. The project is supported by National Lottery & Arts Council England. Last month saw singer and guitarist, George Boosma, delight audiences in Ludlow, Bridgnorth and Hereford. Shire Folk’s Westley Bone, says:
“What an amazing weekend! We have been blown away with the response from everyone. Sell out audiences in Bridgnorth at Violets Tea Room and at Ludlow Distillery on the very first tour! Not only that, but our next artist Lady Nade is also selling fast.”
“We couldn’t have wished for a better start. Everyone kept coming up to me to say what a wonderful time they had and that they are looking forward to coming to the next shows. There’s always a little bit of self-doubt when it comes to putting together something as ambitious as this but when the lights went down and the music started, we stood back and saw everyone just being absorbed in the moment. Our doubts disappeared.”
The next series of live performances will feature Lady Nade; a multi-award-winning eclectic Folk and Americana singer-songwriter. Gaining plaudits on Ralph McLean (Northern Ireland & BBC Radio Ulster), Clive Anderson – Loose Ends (Radio 4), Mark Radcliffe (BBC Radio 2 & BBC Radio 6) Cerys Matthews (BBC Radio 2 & BBC Radio 6), Lady Nade also won ‘UK song of the Year’ in the 2022 UK Americana Awards.
The upcoming performances are as follows:
- Ludlow Distillery, Ludlow, Thursday 12 October 2023
- The Jam Factory, Hereford, Friday 13 October 2023
- Violets tea Room, Bridgnorth, Saturday 14 October 2023
