Hands Together Ludlow took over the old dance studio and chapel in Lower Galdeford in August. It has worked hard since then to turn the building into a new hub for volunteering and community support activities including the Ludlow Men’s Shed.
It’s been an exciting whirlwind with many businesses and individuals helping us prepare, from Broad Bean, which donated the community fridge to R J Laurie timber merchants, South Shropshire Glass and Howdens, also contributing generously to the Men’s Shed. We could not have made such good progress without them or the volunteers who have cleaned, constructed, wired, and painted.
The Ludlow Men’s Shed has a permanent home in the building, and the Community Fridge is also up and running. More projects and activities are planned for development over the coming months, such as setting up computers and printers for drop-in use, employment support and digital inclusion sessions, cookery courses and advice, hosting support groups, providing advice, and signposting to help and services.
The building is officially opening on 10th November, and all are welcome to call in, look at what we have done, hear about our plans and get involved if you can. If you can’t make it on the 10th, feel free to drop in when you are passing.
We are working towards using the building for networking and partnerships in Ludlow, where we can all work together, people and organisations alike, supporting the community to help itself.
Just some of what we already do:
Recruit, train, and match volunteers with those in need:
- Befriending Dog Walking
- Walking Buddies
- Cooking and Food activities
- Digital inclusion
- Youth mentoring
- Job club / CV writing
Network with and support other charities and organisations, including:
- Work with the Food Bank
- Reducing food waste
- Support SYF activities
- Social Prescribing
- Food Network
Deliver projects
- Men’s Shed Healthy Eating courses and support
- Good Start Together parental support
- Lunch Club and Afternoon Tea
- Christmas Day lunch
- Community Fridge

Hands Together can only achieve all this with the help and support of the local community. We have been working hard to develop our volunteering opportunities and the team since Covid19 restrictions were lifted.
We have regular and occasional volunteer roles from a day a week to a couple of hours a month and would love to hear from you. You can fill out a (non-binding!) volunteer form. and our Volunteer Coordinator will get back to you.
