New to the Races? Here’s what you need to know about “lovely Ludlow”

Ludlow Racecourse is situated in Bromfield, a few miles outside the town and close to the Ludlow Golf Club and the Ludlow Farmshop. The racecourse has several different areas, and your ticket information will explain exactly where you are allowed to go.

There are a number of pre-bookable restaurant packages and private hospitality options too. If you fancy a flutter, there’s no cash machine on site, so make sure you bring a card and cash for more options. Cash is often used for buying your race card or putting on small bets via the totes.

At Ludlow, there are two types of races, hurdles and chase fences. You will see these noted in your racecard. Ludlow is the only racecourse in the country (apart from Goodwood) where the horses parade anti-clockwise around The Paddock. The reason for this is to enable the trainer who is doing the “leg-up” to move away from the horse safely. The horses parade the ring prior to racing, and this is also where the Winner of Best Turned Out is chosen.

Dress code is smart/casual and always ensure you attach your badge to your outfit, either through a buttonhole or attached to a handbag strap, so it is visible to the racecourse officials.

The next race day is Monday, 22 November 2021
