Tenbury Applefest on 2nd October 2021 is a celebration of the Mighty Apple with music, trade stands, food and drink and a licenced bar. Apple display by F P Matthews, Apple pressing by Appleteme , demonstrations, Classic Cars, Animal Encounters, Rockspring Choir Bromyard Town Crier, Leominster Morris Dancers, Tenbury Teme Valley Band, Ferret racing, Cool Moves Dance , Blue Moon and Pearl Lake Ukelele. Window Dressing competition throughout the Town. Just £4 admission with children under 16 free.

Shropshire Oktoberfest on 1st & 2nd October 2021 is back and BIGGER! With over 180 real ales, ciders, bubbles, gin, cocktails, rums, and wines served alongside amazing live music, street food, a farmers market, comedy club, and the much loved silent disco this promises to be another amazing event all undercover in Shrewsbury Quarry Park. The event runs: 5pm – 10pm Friday 1st October ’21 – £12.50 in advance (£15 on the door) VIP tickets – £20 in advance (£25 on the door) 11am – 10pm Saturday 2nd October ’21 – £20 entry in advance (£25 on the door) VIP tickets – £40 in advance (£45 on the door).

Ludlow English Song Weekend from 29th-30th October 2021. One and a half days of the very best of English Song featuring Butterworth, Gurney, Vaughan Williams, Finzi and many more. Includes two premieres and Young Composers showcase concert. All held in the splendour of St Laurence’s Church Ludlow – “the Cathedral of the Marches”. According to the organisers, “all the Festival Passes have sold out and the Opening Recital with Iain and Roddy Williams is also sold out. The other recitals are also almost full due to reduced capacity” but you can still get tickets to the Morning Recital, the Young Artist Showcase incl. Fallen premiere and the Final concert including premiere of “The Moon And I” (Rhian Samuel). Book your tickets here

The Sinfonia Stellaris on 16th October 2021 at St Laurence’s Church. Programme: The overture Egmont, L van Beethoven, Le Roi s’amuse (Songs and Dances in Ancient Style), Léo Delibes, Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra in C major, J Haydn (soloist Griffith Wadkin), Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra in A major, W A Mozart (Soloist Rela Spyrou), Symphony No 29 in A major. Ticket costs will be £23.00 and are available to purchase. Starting at 7:30 pm with doors opening at 6:45 pm.

Beginners Jive Class at Ludlow Assembly Rooms on 5th October 2021. 7.30-8.30pm, Beginners Jive is a great way to get fit without the monotony of the gym and a great dance to learn because you can take it at your own pace. There is no pressure on participants to be experienced in dance at all and should not be nervous as the beginners class is for absolute beginners. The steps are easy to learn and the classes fun and friendly. Each week you will be taught a new move and then revise the previous weeks move, so you can always catch up if you miss a week. Classes last for approx 45mins followed by 15mins practice/social time. Suitable for ages 18 upwards

DJ Jive Night at Richard’s Castle Village Hall on 9th October 2021. 8pm-11pm, Dancing with one of the resident DJ’s. All styles welcome, plenty of parking and don’t forget to bring your own drinks and nibbles. £6, pay on the door.

The Fabulous Bordellos Live at Ludlow Brewery on 9th October 2021. Kicking off the evening at 8pm with Kenny Elphick, guitarist, singer/songwriter followed by the FBs, all powered by Sound55. This event is SOLD OUT but keep an eye on Ludlow Brewery Facebook page for any changes.

Spooky Spectacular at West Midlands Safari Park 22nd-31st October 2021. Spooky Explorers can take part in the ‘Perils of the Pumpkin Patch’ Scratchcard Trail, to find the magical, missing pumpkins, follow the clues to spell out the secret password and earn a Spooky sticker prize and meet the new pumpkin scarecrow character, ‘Patch’, and see his live Pumpkin Party stage show at selected times throughout the day. Full of Halloween fun for the whole family.

Bodenham Arboretum Pumpkin Trail from 23rd-31st October 2021. Fantastic, carved pumpkins, staged Halloween Scenes and visit the Halloween Kitchen serving a great selection of hot and cold food and drinks. The daytime event will run from Saturday 23rd Oct – Sun 31st October, 9am – 5.00pm. Standard Arboretum Admission fees apply during the day : Adult £6.50, Children £3.50, Under 5s free of charge, + booking fee. A torchlit evening event will run across three evenings – Fri 29th, Sat 30th and Sun 31st, 5.30pm – 7.30pm, which will include children’s activities on the Terrace, including our ‘Ghosts Story Time.’ Fees – £5 per ticket (under 2s free) + booking fee.

The Wizards of Once Halloween Quest at Stokesay Castle on 23rd October 2021. Head to Stokesay Castle for a fantastical day out this Halloween half-term. Explore the grounds on our brand-new adventure trail inspired by Cressida Cowell’s bestselling Wizards of Once series. Will you find the ingredients for the Spell to get rid of Witches and uncover the location of the Cup of Second Chances? Plus, go along in frightful fancy dress and snap a picture to enter their competition on social media. It’s going to be a really wizard day out!

Ghost Hunt At The Haunted Judges Lodgings Presteigne on 23rd October 2021. Are you brave enough to join the Ghost Hunter Tours Team on a full blown ghost hunt at The Judges Lodgings Presteigne Wales? This location was featured on TV’s Most Haunted and it has generations of reports of sightings, strange happenings and shadow figures seen around the whole location. If you are brave enough, you will be taking part in a full paranormal investigation and you will become the investigators performing experiments including seances, board and glass work and electronic communication methods. This is an over 18’s only event. This location has many dark secrets and we need you to help us unlock the past during this investigation!

Stokesay Court Halloween Open Weekend 30th-31st October 2021. Put on your wellies and warm clothes and come for a good walk to clear the Halloween cobwebs, then enjoy a home made seasonal picnic with hot soup and tasty treats.
– Spot Brian the witch’s cat as he hides among the pumpkins on our trail.
– Enjoy hot soup, sandwiches and hot chocolate from our Shepherds hut (included in the ticket price, Vegan and GF options available on request)
– Enjoy the autumn colours and take advantage of the fantastic photo opportunities available as you stroll the grounds.
– Have fun playing our traditional Halloween games.
– Dress up and take part in our costume competition with prizes!

Bonfire and Fireworks on 30th October 2021 followed by Spooky Halloween Craft at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre on 31st October 2021. With hot and cold refreshments as well as fairground rides, Bonfire and Fireworks is the perfect night out to round off the October Half Term. Gates open at 5pm, bonfire lit at 7pm and fireworks start at 7.30pm. Advance tickets (Available from Saturday 18th September): Adult £4.50, Child £2.50, Family £12.50. On the gate: Adult £5, Child £3, Family £15. Spooky crafts and activities on 31st October is a self-led trail between 11am and 3pm, £4 per accompanied child. Booking essential.

Sewing for Pleasure at Loudwater Community Arts on 6th October 2021. Want to sew your own clothes, or simply want to get to grips with that sewing machine that’s gathering dust in the corner? Join fortnightly on Wednesday mornings and lose yourself in sewing. It’s all very relaxed and informal; there are large cutting tables for your pattern cutting and you will be guided through how to get the best out of your machine whilst making something beautiful to take home. Bring your own machine, or if you’ve not invested in a machine yet use one there. Places are limited so please book to avoid disappointment.

SplodgeOCrock Half Term Open Day at Loudwater Community Arts on 26th October 2021. It’s Half Term and the Autumn Clouds are looming. The new Christmas range of pottery has arrived and you’ll have some lovely items that would make great gifts. Join for a day of pottery painting. You can book your place or simply drop in, take a tour of the Studio, and paint some pottery too. With pieces starting from just £5 it’s a great fun way to entertain the children without blowing the bank!

Beginner’s Calligraphy at Loudwater Community Arts on 22nd October 2021. Learn the art of Calligraphy. Beginning with using felt pens to learn the Foundational alphabet, you’ll then move on to dip pens and ink to create your own piece of calligraphy or bookmark. Price includes all materials, light refreshments and a small Calligraphy kit to help you enjoying your new found skill at home. Please dress warmly and bring a packed lunch. Booking essential. Masks must be worn by all attendees.
