The news we’ve all been waiting for: Ludlow Council announced the opening of “a socially distanced COVID-19 safe market” from today, 8th June 2020. It’s the beating heart of our town and we’ve been missing our weekly potter around Ludlow Market.
It’s great returning to filling our basket with eggs from Lizzie’s Layers, olive oil from the Olive Press, loose tea from Jo, ground coffee from Hundred House, fresh pastries from Matty and delectable pork pies from Cheryl.
We’ve missed snooping at vintage finds from Anna, topping up our Good Doggy Treats and picking plump, fresh fruit from farmers. So many stalls and faces we’re looking forward to seeing again.
According to the Council, the market will trade on the Market Square and Events Square with a maximum of 14 stalls, two trailer pitches and four gazebo pitches.
Regular market days will be every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. There will also be some markets on Tuesdays (full details to follow).
Start dates for Thursday Local to Ludlow markets and Sunday Antiques markets have yet to be confirmed.
If you’re worried about safety and numbers, “the socially distanced market plan puts everyone’s safety first. Trading will comply with COVID-19 safe regulations. Face visors will be used and hand sanitising stations will be provided”.
The public toilets have also reopened 7 days this week! Get your bags and baskets at the ready. We hope you’ll join us (2 metres apart, of course) in helping to support these amazing local businesses who put their heart and soul into everything they do.
