Ludlow and the surrounding Marches have a long tradition of producing and selling quality foodstuffs. Gastronomic tourists enjoy the annual Food Festivals as well as browsing picture perfect streets in search of Independent bakers, butchers, farm shops and street markets.
Over the years this has helped to attract top chefs and passionate foodies to run an abundance of independent restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. One local Ludlow business playing a supporting role in wholesale supply to the vast majority of pubs, restaurants and coffee shops is Bikold. Founded over 40 years ago by Andy Wood, it has built strong links to the town. Initially it began with three freezer centres in Ludlow, Church Stretton and Craven Arms, but as people’s desire to eat out grew, Bikold’s business evolved. Since 2000, it has had its wholesale warehouse based in Lingen Road. Andy sources ’Chef Quality’ products from all around the world, but also proudly supports numerous local food and drink producers.

As COVID 19 temporarily closes Ludlow’s restaurants and the gastronomic tourists are in lockdown, Bikold has evolved once again and in response to the pandemic now provides a delivered food solution to many Shropshire and Herefordshire families. It also has a click & collect service available at its office.
